Beryl Adams Portrait

Beryl Adams is a professional artist residing in Bellingham, Washington. She recently moved to Bellingham, WA from Florence, Oregon, where she had lived since 1990. Painting since 1965, Beryl has worked in numerous media, but currently paints almost exclusively in aqua-media and computer art. The artist's paintings range from representational to abstract; however, it is the abstract and subjective that captures her heart. When Beryl paints, she is interested in expressing her FEELINGS and capturing the ESSENCE of a subject, as opposed to duplicating it.

Beryl's education includes: Associate in Arts degree from Pasadena City College, art classes at Sierra Community College, Sacramento State University, and University of California at Davis, all in California. Through the years, Beryl has also taken private classes and workshops with numerous respected painters, such as Irving Shapiro, Alex Powers, Serge Hollerbach, Carla O'Conner, Katherine Chang Liu, Pat Deadman, Barbara Nechis, Gerald Brommer, Judy Morris, Chris Keylock Williams, Bill Park, and others.

Currently, Beryl's work is represented in Oregon by"Coastal Casuals" in Florence, "Earth Works Galleries" in Lincoln City, Newport and Yachats.

In the past, Beryl's work has been exhibited at various galleries and art museums in Northern California, including: "The Crocker Art Museum" in Sacramento; "Santa Cruz Art Museum"; "Left Bank Gallery" in Folsom; "Artworks" in Fair Oaks; "River Road Gallery" in Locke; "Friday House Gallery" in Placerville; "Tuesday Club" and "Penhallow Gallery" in Sacramento and others. In addition, her works have been juried into many art organization shows, including: Water Color Society of Oregon (WSO); Santa Cruz Art League (SCAL); Watercolor Association of Sacramento Horizons (WASH); and Northern California Artists (NCA).

Her latest awards were "Best of Show" and two "Merit Awards" at the juried "Celebrate Arts Show" at the FEC (Florence Events Center) in December of 2003. Beryl's painting "Terrestrial Essence III" won an Achievement Award in the the Watercolor Society of Oregon's Spring 2005 40th Annual Aqueous Media Exhibition in Burns, Oregon and is part of the WSO Traveling Show. She was also awarded a Gold Award for having accumulated 20 points earned by being accepted into WSO juried shows and winning numerous awards. Most recently, her painting "The Gathering" was accepted into the NWWS (Northwest Watercolor Society Open Exhibit 2006) in Seattle, WA.

Beryl has taught acrylic painting at the Left Bank Gallery, in Folsom, CA (1973-1982), as well as teaching workshops at Asilomar, CA (1979-1982) and private lessons. Beryl has served as Vice President and Program Chair for WASH (1985-86), Painting Tour Chair for WSO (1993-1995), and co-chair and publicity chair for the Fall 2000 WSO Show, in Florence. Her work is included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Canada.
