20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall
See Slideshow of all 27 images | Read Siuslaw News Editorial

Birgitt Lyon's Berlin Wall Art photos are artistically and visually stunning, thoughtful and educational. They remind us of a period of history fraught with turmoil with the partitioning of Germany. Ultimately, in 1989 the Berlin Wall was finally torn down. It was a celebration of freedom. Free access between East and West restored and Germany again became a unified state. A portion of the wall was left standing as a reminder. Many international artists were invited to paint murals on sections of the wall expressing their feelings and ideas of what it meant to have the wall torn down and freedom restored.

Monday, November 9th is the 20 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. To commemorate this historic event, Birgitt recently added 27 of her photographic images of the Berlin Wall art to her web pages in the form of a slide show. If you didn't get a chance to see her exhibit at the Siuslaw Public Library in Florence, Oregon, now you can see her stunning images online.

You can click on the three images below to see larger more detailed versions. More images will be added throughout the year.
