In April and May 2005 artist Lois Need, celebrates her 80th birthday. In spite of her years as a dedicated mother of six children and stepmother to me and my sister, and wife to my father, she is a fine artist - a sculptor and a watercolorist.
Through all the years and children she has managed to maintain
her interest and enthusiasm in making art and has transmitted
that interest to her kids. They are all creative in their
own way, whether it be with painting, sculpture, photography,
jewelry making, furniture making, knitting, and architectural
design and drawing.

This month her children are celebrating
Lois' 80 years with a retrospective show of her paintings
and sculptures at the Quercia Gallery in Duncans Mills. The
difference with this show is that while Lois is the subject
of celebration, it is her show, she is, as usual, celebrating
her children and her friends at the same time by inviting
them all to show their artworks side by side with her own.
Lois now lives in Fort Bragg CA where she attends sculpture
classes at the local community college.
