If Wildebeest ruled...

If
Wildebeest Ruled
hung around for a while in his original form 'cause
I figured he would just turn out to be a cattle or some such relatively
unexciting critter. When that piece of wood and I first really started
talking I came to see that I had made an error of judgment. Once one
horn was screwed around where it belonged his wilde-ness was obvious
and the rest just fell into place. His ears nostrils and tongue are
pig's ears while the large dark hump over his snout is another, darker
piece of wood. Other bits include a part of the old sling and pulley
devise on the hay barn, small springs, marbles, vary-colored yarn, roots
of bull kelp (eyelashes) and seaweed. His necklace was made out of a
found, round, wide metal thing from which hangs the shrunken (ceramic)
heads. It is this of course, that we all wonder; whether Wildebeest
would do such if he ruled or if he would indeed be nicer to his compatriot
beings on the planet than the current alphas.
