CALL TO ARTISTS Public Hanging
Area artists are invited to submit their work to Florence Events Center’s “Public Hanging,” which will open February 27 at the FEC’s Gallery Five. Deadline for applications is Wednesday, February 15. The show will run through April 30. This show is limited to flat art only; no photography will be included. Each artist may apply for one rod in the gallery, which will hold up to three paintings. The maximum framed width per painting is 30”. The application fee for the show is $20, which includes an artist’s reception to be held shortly after the show opens. Colleen Goodwin Chronister - Oil Paintings; Angela Palmer, Designer Purses; and Siuslaw Viewfinders Camera Club
 Colleen Goodwin Chronister, of Keizer, Oregon, is a passionate painter who shows a meticulous attention to detail. Her style is contemporary realism and her exquisite oil paintings reflect a rich color palette. Her paintings seem to transcend the ordinary and have a distinctive magical quality which characterizes her work. Colleen’s paintings have won many prestigious awards in juried shows throughout the country, including over a dozen Best of Show awards.
 Members of the Florence Viewfinders will be showing off their photographic expertise in Gallery Five in a show entitled Oregon: The Place We Call Home. This show is dedicated to the memory of John Bevans, master photographer and a wonderful husband and friend. He grew up in the dry John Day country, traveled the world and came home to the Oregon Coast. His image of the North Jetty dive dock is a special feature of the show.
SIUSLAW VIEWFINDERS CAMERA CLUB (SVCC) ~ November and December Contest Winners for "Twilight" and "Contrasting Colors"
 
 
With this update, the Siuslaw Viewfinders are showing the winners for November and December. Randolph Cox, Rick Marsh, and Cliff Harvey took 1st 2nd and 3rd for November's theme of "Twilight." And Betty Romero, Larry Bacon, and Randolph Cox took 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively for DEcember's theme of "Contrasting Colors."
The Viewfinders' next meeting will be at 6 p.m., Monday, Jan 9th, in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Public Library. The Viewfinders will present their photography in Gallery 5 at the Florence Events Center in January and February. The show is called "Oregon: The Place We Call Home," and is dedicated to the memory of former member John Bevans.
