SMALL IS BIG

Art Talk - Creating Artists Trading Cards

Imagine amassing an impressive art collection--hundreds of pieces of original art--and not paying for any of it!! No, local artist/collector Rosie Hill is not an art thief. She is, however, part of a huge movement involving tiny art. Each piece in her collection is the size of a baseball card and all were acquired by trading with artists from all over the country. Artists Trading Cards, or ATC's as they are called, have captured the imagination of artists worldwide. Working within a format measuring exactly 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches, the cards are created in a myriad of techniques and with all types of media: paint, collage, photography, pencil, pen, fabric, metal, and more. They are never to be sold and are created with the sole purpose of trading with other artists. It is an exciting and fun way to share art, connect with other artists and collect art. Artist Trading Cards encourage the creation of art for art's sake.

Come see what is so alluring about this art form as mixed media artist, Rosie Hill shares her experience and collection representing three years of ATC trading. Learn how to get started on making and trading. Learn some new techniques and be inspired by the many samples she presents. This presentation will be held on Saturday, May 10, at 10:30 am in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Library. It is free and open to everyone. For more information contact Rosie at 997-5388.
