"Since Moving to Florence in 2000, I have taken watercolor classes from Katheryn Davis, Jan Kuntz and Susan Weathers. Learning techniques from each of these teachers has been a joy for me. I have begun to understand how to achieve the textural and fluid effects I want to best express the style of painting I wish to do. I really enjoy the spontaneity of watercolor. Landscapes and florals are what I do most, but the paintings done recently are more abstracted and fanciful. I have also begun doing mixed media and collages as well as watercolors." Carol Jolley received her Art Degree from the California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland, California. Her major was Art Education. She received her California State Teaching Credential from San Jose State University. After college, her profession turned to retail management and fashion buying. Working for companies such as Mervyn's and Macy's, Carol had the opportunity to travel extensively in the United States and in the Far East. She still enjoys traveling in her retirement. The photos she and her husband take on vacation are the basis for many of her watercolors. Carol's work has been shown at the Toad Hall in Yachats, OR, Florence Events Center, The Rage Gallery, The Silver Lining & Gallery Above, Café Soriah in Eugene, and the Oregon Coast Bakery and Coffee Café. Her paintings are in private collections in Oregon, California, Arizona, Texas, Idaho and Ohio. Carol is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon.
