Artist's Statement

As a "restless spirit" constantly looking for new ways of seeing and understanding, Marilyn Peer is ready to investigate new mediums, finding new forms of expression.

So far, she has explored ceramics, sculpture, assemblage, drawing, painting, jewelry, acrylic, watercolor, oil and encaustic.

Inspired by Modern abstract expressionists Louise Nevelson, Richard Diebenkorn, and Mark Rothko, Marilyn creates abstract assemblage cityscapes from mixed media like Styrofoam, boxes an drawers, and abstract acrylic and encaustic paintings. She pulls different media together to make a statement about color, shape, form, surface and the urban landscape. Stripping things down to the essence is her goal.
