Karen Nichols is an award-winning Florence artist, relocated from Southern California where she was an artist and teacher. Her work has been shown at the Gallery Above the Silver Lining, and has won several awards at the Florence Events Center, and the Rhoddie Festival Art Show. She is now a Backstreet Gallery artist. Backstreet Gallery is located at 327 Laurel Street west of Hwy 101 in Florence, where you can see her unique works.

Her pieces are executed in a variety of media-- photography, bas relief paper painting, sculptures, acrylics, pencil on canvas, miniatures, and colored pencil. She also has a line of jewelry, Christmas ornaments and greeting cards. Her portraits are available on commission.

She was the managing editor for Carapace Scrawler - a book of short stories and poetry written by local authors, which is available at the gallery.

A ray of sunshine, a drop of rain, a rainbow, wild horses, egrets, interesting buildings, or a child’s smile are but a few inspirations that motivate her artistry in photography, painting, drawings, composing or writing.
