Pattie Brooks Anderson

Pattie is a painter, printmaker and multimedia artist.  Her work is inspired by visual images that come to her from poetry, quotes, philosophy and lately the ancient practice of Qigong.

A landscape painter for many years, she is absorbing the light and terrain of the North Coast and finds it appearing in her current work, sometimes unconsciously.  She is intrigued by her latest medium, watercolor and ink, and exploring all it’s possibilities.

Pattie spent many years following her passion for art that began with the desire to be a cartoonist. She took her first art class after dropping out of chemistry in high school.  She went on to college and majored in art and stopped to raise a family, but always continued her art education. She received her Associates degree in Graphic Communications and worked nine years doing free lance graphic design.  She eventually returned to college and received a degree in painting and printmaking. She went on to teach fine art and commercial art at the high school and adult school level.

In 2003, the Anderson’s began to seek another nest in a cooler climate and found Florence. They have since found their dream home and quickly added a new studio. Here, Pattie creates paintings, books, assemblages and loves being a part of Backstreet Gallery, A Local Artist Co-op  She still teaches the class that she now calls “Nurturing Your Creative Spirit” in her studio in the trees.
